Mindful Meditation

Hello My Enlightened Friends,

There are been so many unusual distractions to peace, in our world these days, I thought I would share with you a short handout on meditation. A Course in Miracles teaches that you rule one kingdom and that is your mind. The practice of meditation can inspire you to be a more harmonious and compassionate ruler of your mind. Please enjoy the daily practice of letting go of the world and connecting with your higher self and Source.

Mindful Meditation

Meditation is a process of self-regulation or a method of mindful attention, for the service of self-inquiry, developing the ability for better concentration, enhancing creativity, and achieving a higher state of consciousness for spiritual growth and enlightenment.

The human mind is magical and miraculous ~ a conscious aspect of self that is constantly perceiving and stimulating responses to the environment, and expressing cognation abilities or feelings toward things. Continuously and efficiently the mind observes, processes, and manifests responses. The essence of your being is pure consciousness and you have the ability to command, control, and regulate your mind.

For meditative purposes, it is important to learn how to control the mind and not allow the mind to control you.

An effective practice of meditation is the mindful meditation technique. Mindful meditation involves sitting comfortably in silence and centering attention on an object, subject, or process.  By concentrating on a particular object, subject, or process you minimize mental distractions with a strong and central intention on a point of focus.  You give your mind something to really think about in a disciplined and controlled state of being. As your active mind fills your head with an endless list of ‘to dos’ and past or future issues that distract you, you return your concentration to the point of focus with mindful meditation.

 

Three variations of mindful meditation:

  1. During mindful meditation, focus your mind on an object, such as a rose or a candle flame.

 

  1. During mindful meditation, center on a subject such as your health and well-being, peacefulness, kindness, or compassion.

 

  1. During mindful meditation mindful, concentrate on a process such as breathing or repeating a prayer, mantra, or affirmation (om, I am love, I am light, I am loving kindness).

 

Hold your attention for as long as possible, on the point of focus, and in time, you can build your mindful meditation endurance for many minutes or hours. Be patient with yourself and know that each time you meditate the outcome will be different. Do not go into meditation with a specific expectation or outcome. Let go and allow the healing, inspiration and enlightenment of the experience by just being present and open to receive. Most importantly, enjoy the process and let go of any thoughts that try to take your attention. Breathe and smile. Namaste
